At the Danish Association of Art Centers we are committed to establishing an equal footing for art centers with museums in terms of achieving operational and financial funding in Art Council groups etc.
We believe that we contribute something unique to the art scene. Not just in terms of contemporary art exhibitions, but also because we can achieve something special in terms of creating networks, developing partnerships and in particular user participation.
For us it is important to emphasize that an art center today is not an empty shell that the artist fills. On the contrary, art centers encompass an academic expertise and a range of tools, which are essential in creating optimal conditions for contemporary art and in communicating it to the public in an appropriate manner. In art centers, you encounter the newest contemporary art; the possibility to hear the artists talk about their work and experience it on their own terms.
